Revenue Reporting 101

Learn how to quickly pull reports on your financial activity.

Revenue Accrual / Bird's Eye View

To see your revenue as a full accrual chart including contractual discounts and writeoffs, start with the Revenue Accrual Report, available from Billing Home.

The report shows the data month-over-month, and you can dive down into any particular month to pull the raw data for that period. The data is reported by date received/adjudicated, not by date of bookkeeping, which is ideal for looking at month-over-month or year-over-year performance without any interference from bookkeeping delays.

The report does not break out your cash received into categories, such as Medicare / Medicaid / Private / et cetera. For that, you must use some of AngelTrack's other reports.

Cash Received by Counterparty

To see a breakdown of actual cash received by counterparty type and subtype, start with the report named Cash Receipts Visualizer, available from Billing Home. It sorts monetary amounts by date received or adjudicated, not by the date when bookkeeping was performed, which is ideal for looking at month-over-month or year-over-year performance without any interference from bookkeeping delays.

To pull the raw data driving that report, use the Payment Event Finder -- available in the sidebar of all billing areas in AngelTrack -- and then filter by date range, counterparty type, and so forth. It can show your monetary amounts by the date received/adjudicated, or by the date when bookkeeping was performed.

Per-Dispatch Monetary Data

A good place to see monetary amounts per-dispatch, rather than aggregated, is the Line Items Report, available from Billing Home. It has many filters allowing you to zoom in on a subset of your call volume.

You can then export its data to Excel for further analysis.

Outstanding Balances

To see outstanding balances for facilities, affiliates, and/or patients, then use these reports, available in the Invoicing section of Billing Home:

  • Facilities with a Balance
  • Affiliates with a Balance
  • Patients with a Balance

To see pending insurance claims, use these reports, all on the Billing Home page in the Claims section:

  • Insurance Pending Report, showing each individual carrier's pending claim totals
  • Claims Aging Report, for identifying claims that have waited too long
  • Claims Activity Visualizer, showing the claimed dollar amounts pending by carrier type over time
  • Claims Activity Monitor, showing adjudication statistics for all carriers or for one specific carrier over a selectable time period

Printing quick statements

For any facility, affiliate, or patient that has a balance, you can easily print a quick statement, showing all monetary amounts by age plus all open committed invoices.

You can do this from within the grids of the aforementioned "with a Balance" reports. You can also do this from the link Receipt.medium which appears at the top of every Facility Edit, Affiliate Edit, and Patient Edit page.

Biller Activity and Performance

To see sum-totals of the activity of your billing office, organized by date of bookkeeping (rather than by date received/adjudicated), use the Billing Activity Visualizer, available from Billing Home.

To pull the raw data driving that report, use the Payment Event Finder, available in the sidebar of all billing-related pages in AngelTrack. You must switch the Payment Event Finder to use date of bookkeeping rather than date received/adjudicated, and review its other filter options which are marked to indicate which ones should be ticked in order to exactly match the Billing Activity Visualizer.

Using Report Builder

If you have a license for it, you can use Report Builder to easily slice and dice your revenue data any way you like, with built-in one-click charting too. To learn more, take a look at the Revenue Reporting with Report Builder Guide.
