Colorblind User Support

AngelTrack has a selectable theme to assist red-green colorblind users.

AngelTrack's UI makes heavy use of color-coding to indicate service levels and good/bad conditions, which red-green colorblind will probably find frustrating. To relieve this frustration, AngelTrack has a selectable theme that makes reds and greens easier to discern.

Activating the Colorblind Theme

  1. To activate the Colorblind theme, do this:
  2. Click the house icon in the upper-left corner to navigate to the AngelTrack home page.
  3. Click the "Support" icon.
  4. Scroll down and click the "HTML5 Control Preferences" item.
  5. Scroll down to the theme selector, and choose "Colorblind".
  6. Save changes.

The change will persist on your workstation or mobile device. If you use other workstations or mobile devices, you must repeat this process for each one.

If you are a crew member who does not have access to the dispatch areas of AngelTrack, then you can instead click the "UI Preferences" link that appears in the bottom-right corner of your Crew Home Page.

How It Works

Here is AngelTrack's regular color palette when in light mode:

ColorblindTheme.Off.LightMode

And here is AngelTrack's regular color palette when in dark mode:

ColorBlindTheme.Off.DarkMode

Now here is AngelTrack's colorblind palette when in light mode:

ColorBlindTheme.On.LightMode

And here is AngelTrack's colorblind palette in dark mode:

ColorBlindTheme.On.DarkMode

As you can see, the colorblind palette cannot make a distinction between the Yellow (auxiliary), Gold (air medical), and Pink (MICU) designations, nor between the Green (gurney/inspection/telemedicine) and Turquoise (car) designations, because there simply aren't enough colors available. However, this loss of distinctions is very minor, since it affects only the rarer service levels.
