Learn how to report an on-the-job injury in AngelTrack.
To report an on-the-job injury in AngelTrack, you will use the Incident System. If the injury happens to a crew member while responding to a fire call, you will also use the NFIRS PCR.
EMS Crew Injuries are Reportable to the State Trauma Registry
If the injury happened to a crew member during an EMS response, then the event is reportable to your state trauma registry, in NEMSIS elements eOther.05 and eOther.06.
AngelTrack will do this for you automatically, as long as you do the following:
- Create an incident record for the injury in the usual way.
- In the incident record, choose one of the options in the "Crew injury" picklist to describe the injury.
- To connect the incident record to the dispatch record for the EMS response in which the injury occurred, type the dispatch ID into the incident record's "Dispatch ID" field. (This connection will be created for you automatically if you created the incident record by clicking the "Report an incident" link on the Run Call page.)
That's all you have to do. AngelTrack will send the injury report to your trauma registry as part of that PCR's data submission.
Fire Crew Injuries are Reportable to the State Fire Database
If the injury happened to a crew member during a non-EMS fire response, then the event is reportable to your state fire database, in the NFIRS-5 module.
AngelTrack will do this for you automatically, as long as you fill out the "Fire Casualty" section of your NFIRS report for the fire response.
As you are doing that, AngelTrack will offer you the option to ☑ Also create an AngelTrack incident record for this injury, which, if selected when you click "Save", will generate an AngelTrack incident record and pre-fill some of its fields with data from your NFIRS report.
Other Employee Injuries
For all other employee injuries, there is no need for the PCR; just submit an incident record in the usual way:
- If you are a crew member, then click the "Submit an Incident" link from your Crew Home page.
- If you are an office worker, then click the flag icon found about the middle of the top ribbon at the top of every AngelTrack page.
